May 20: “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day!l Jihad Watch

The paintbrush/pen/pencil/crayon is mightier than the sword. Or hey, even needlepoint if you’re up for it. The possibilities are endless. “Seattle cartoonist launches ‘Everybody Draw Mohammed Day’,” by Jamie Griswold for the Associated Press, April 23 (thanks to all who sent this in):

After Comedy Central cut a portion of a South Park episode following a death threat from a radical Muslim group, Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris wanted to counter the fear. She has declared May 20th “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.”

Norris told KIRO Radio’s Dave Ross that cartoonists are meant to challenge the lines of political correctness. “That’s a cartoonist’s job, to be non-PC.”

Producers of South Park said Thursday that Comedy Central removed a speech about intimidation and fear from their show after a radical Muslim group warned that they could be killed for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The group said it wasn’t threatening South Park producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but it included a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim extremist in 2004, and said the producers could meet the same fate. The website posted the addresses of Comedy Central’s New York office and the California production studio where South Park is made.

“As a cartoonist I just felt so much passion about what had happened I wanted to kind of counter Comedy Central’s message they sent about feeling afraid,” Norris said.

Norris has asked other artists to submit drawings of any religious figure to be posted as part of Citizens Against Citizens Against Humor (CACAH) on May 20th.

But drawings of one “religious figure” in particular will provoke death threats and accusations of hatred and racism.

On her website Norris explains this is not meant to disrespect any religion, but rather meant to protect people’s right to express themselves.

I would hope that one or more of the cartoonists will depict Jesus Christ asking why He can be negatively portrayed in any manner, while muhammad cannot. The Christian religion commands that death is a sin. Where are the lines drawn with Islam?

    • Charles Martel on May 28, 2010 at 6:29 PM

Recall the first “South Park” Mohammed controversy: it ended with some animation supposedly made by Al Qaeda showing Jesus and George Bush the Younger defecating on a US flag. Though the brave First Amendment warriors at Comedy Censored blocked the Mohammed image, they had no problem showing the episode’s grand finale. What cowards.

You know where the lines are drawn with Mohammedanism: if even one of them might possibly be offended, we must censor ourselves. I am still a free citizen of a free republic, and I say, to Hell with that and anyone, God-cursed Mohammedan or otherwise, who tries to enforce that on me.

Muslims say Jesus is not the son of God and did not die in the cross. Besides, Jesus is a minor prophet prior to arrival of Muhammed - the greatest prophet for Muslims!
Why Christians allow this blasphemy against their faith? Until Christians speak up and ask Muslim to stop blasphemy against Jesus/Christianity, nothing will happen!

  3. naha on May 19, 2010 at 2:48 AM

to make fun of things is not a bad thing but to play with feeling is a sin in every religion… muslims have great and beautiful feelings for MUHAMMAD so it means u r making fun of thier feelings… although they say that jesus is not the son of GOD but it is actually according to thier religious book. ..and they never ever make fun of jesus… think about it.

    • Kayli on May 19, 2010 at 8:14 PM

so, they don’t make fun of Jesus, how nice, they just want to KILL anyone who believes in him & anyone who believes in no one!!

      • Ed on May 28, 2010 at 10:12 AM

how much you hate Muslims? So, do love them if they change their religion? same story of native americans.

Non muslims can never understand the place of Muhammad(pBUM) in the hearts of muslims.Muslim have always regard juses(PBUH) as their own prophet. because they think that all the prophets of one God have same inspiration of truth in the different era of human history.muslim never even image the make fun of the juses and moses…
muslim even give the respect the compainions of other prophet.
muslim understands very well that true belivers of any religion cannot make joke of the prophet.
only extremist athiest are producing violence between muslims and non muslims by the socalled name of freedom of speech. We must remember, after communicational revolution, we should redefine the explaination of freedom of speech by taking consideration of its evil impacts also…athiest claims free thought but we all know without any prejudice that their free thought is not free now…that is full of prejudice and bioesness about stranger civilzation with the fake mythes…..

    • Charles Martel on May 28, 2010 at 6:37 PM

The place to which you assign Jesus represents the foulest and most offensive blasphemy. I’m going to need you and all God-cursed Mohammedans to cease and desist that immediately.

I am no atheist, and I had no problem at all posting an image of your duplicitous, thieving, murderous “prophet” on my Facebook page on EDM Day. My right to free speech is given to me by God — the real One, not the one that your desert maniac conjured to justify his depravity — and neither you nor a billion others like you can ever take it away.

Offended yet? Good. Now get over yourselves, and let us know when you’re ready to join the 21st Century.

All of us non-muslims(kafirs) were offended on 9/11 and continue to be offended every time there is a terrorist act committed by a muslim any where in the world. If you are offended by a simple cartoon. Let it be. I invite all kafirs of the world to unite against the muslims and have more and more of these contests, every month, every week, every day. Let it hurt, let it pain, let it offend. It comes nowhere near the anguish of the families who lost their loved ones to terrorism.

    • Truth2010 on May 23, 2010 at 8:09 AM

And weren’t the muslims offended in the Ahmedabad riots? You seem to be very ignorant of the situation. No wonder muslims are persecuted in India. You should know, many MORE muslims are being killed everyday in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine than non muslims around the world. The reaction to 9/11- which by the way, was an inside job (see aei911.org)- caused more loss of life and humiliation to muslims than to anyone else. We, above everyone else know the anguish of losing our families to terrorism. Just because of the actions of a few people, you cannot hold a grudge against everyone.

      • Charles Martel on May 28, 2010 at 6:40 PM

Riiight, and that’s why the God-cursed Mohammedans were dancing in the streets on 9/11. Don’t even try to deny that: we all saw it.

The Mohammedan death toll is because they’re killing each other in far greater numbers than any outsider could or would attempt.

Freedom of Speech? What freedom of Speech and expression do you speak of? Muhammad has passed on 1400 years ago but his followers remain. Freedom of Speech and Expression are for current times and for people still alive. You are blatantly attacking The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) because of your hatred of Islam which your media has created over the last couple of years. Islam is the fastest growing religion. Like it or hate it and thanks for spreading it through your negativity. You are uneducated and do not know about Islam from an educational point of view but rather what your media chooses for you to hear. You can either choose to remain uneducated and ignorant and speak and depict that which you do not know and remain a fool.

Those who can attack a Prophet has no respect and are the terrorists. It is rather surprising that those who fight for THEIR land are regarded terrorists by those who are greedy and want the oil in those countries.

If anyone attacks the USA tomorrow (Other than when they attacked their own people on 9/11) will they remain coward? No, they won’t. They just assumed Islam was behind ALL the controversy and conspiracy. But what did they do? Attacked Afghanistan and Iraq! Are they not the real terrorists?

Regarding 9/11, there is no proof Muslims DID it. Many citizens in the USA themselves believe it was an inside job.

Educate yourselves! Do not remain fools and believe that which you HEAR.

Seeing is BELIEVING and HEARING is deceiving.

    • Charles Martel on May 28, 2010 at 6:46 PM

In the United States, Mohammedanism is growing because of three factors: (1) immigration, which we have, for some reason, failed in our responsibility to curtail; (2) a higher birth rate; and (3) the attraction that an ideology of superiority and entitlement naturally holds for many in the community of convicted felons.

Only fools believe that 9/11 was not perpetrated by the people who said they perpetrated it. And we all know who the only people dancing in the streets on 9/11 were. Don’t even try to sell that lie.

Americans don’t know what Muslims do for them and don’t know how much we love America. Go check out your universities and see the growing muslim populations.

The are are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and you are computing quite inaccurate extrapolations when using 9/11 as something all muslims support.

You can’t stop muslims from residing in America, leading peaceful lives. Most Muslims here, religious or not, interact with Christians, Jews, Athiests, Agnostic people, and people of every existing faith on a daily basis.

Americans need to understand the faith more to form any kind of opinion on it.

Muslims do not kill Christians because of their faith. Nor do they kill Jews because of their faith.

In the Quran God says “Say : O ye that reject Faith! I worship not that which ye worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship. And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship. To you be your Way, and to me mine.”- Al Kafiroon

Go to hell. No one gives a shit what you say. This website is called Stop the Islamization of America. You are not welcome here. You are a guest in my country, WE educated your type. Otherwise you would be sitting in the sand praying all day without purpose. Take your religion and customs back to where your ancestors came from, or either learn to adapt to our rules and traditions.

The very presence of this website reeks of your paranoia. Its really the fact that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world thats bothering you.
You need to have a purpose and the context of a topic before you pick up the pen. In this case Molly’s folly seemed to be a convenient excuse for all islamophobes to find a point of convergence. Thats your purpose and thats the context.
If speech is going to be that free, expect an amendment that will allow you to take some pedophile art to your daughter’s next ‘show and tell’. If you are too appalled to make some art yourself, don’t worry. Someone who’s really rooting for ‘free speech’ will.
    Free to speak arn’t we?

  14. Katy on May 21, 2010 at 8:04 AM

    @ Christine Beckley
Btw, I stopped watching south park the day they showed Jesus using cocaine and I let everyone I know who watches SP realize this and let them decide on their own.
Its not humor. Its insinuation. Its derogatory. They set up a bashing contest on their own terms. Everyone’s faith and beliefs get bashed in turn while the others can enjoy a good laugh.
I’m at a disagreement. I don’t laugh at your bashing because its against my principles and I expect a reciprocation of courtesy.
Lower the stereotype filter shouldn’t we?

i don’t understand what non Muslims get by doing such things? a million dollar? a room full of gold? or what kind of satisfaction? i think its nothing but a sign of being a looser. they are unable to effect Islam in any ways neither such blasphemies will effect prophet Mohammad pbuh nor Islam. the analogy of this act can be that when one looses something, one is just left with abusive words or to vent the feeling of loss in such ways. this is what, this cartoon making is showing….”a psychological problem”. have you ever heard of Muslims making cartoons of holocaust? kali mata? jesus? the reason is we are not insecure of our religion and we aren’t losers to vent a sense of loss through this way.

My FB account was disabled this morning due to my participation in the Everybody Draw Mohammed Day event on FB and I submitted no likeness of Mo nor did I cast aspersions on Islam other than to suggest it was not the “religion of peace” as advertised; I illustrated this point by submitting links to news articles and documentaries showing how women and children fared under Islam.

In response to spammers, I kept submitting some of the links, including some to Pat Condell, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc to diffuse the perpetually enraged Muslims posters. I got death threats and photos sent to my FB page of dead and maimed US soldiers, a freshly beheaded toddler and a living, mummified woman completely bound save for her face.

This morning, I posted the definition of brainwashing and mind control and shortly thereafter my FB account was disabled with no warning. It has vanished as did the EDMD FB page. Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee and the 1st Amendment.

Check out http://www.quitfacebookday.com/; now, on top of the usual worry over privacy issues with FB, I have to wonder if the Islamoterrorists got my info too. One threat indicated that they would have to kill me now. I was also repeatedly accused of being a Jew, but, despite my name, I am not Jewish. I am a former catholic who couldn’t be properly indoctrinated, am now an agnostic ( or spagnostic A K A Pastafarian of the FSM )and refuse to have Sharia law shoved down my throat.

It is time to boycott as many Islamic products and apologists as we can.

    • Charles Martel on May 28, 2010 at 6:50 PM

My account was disabled today too, no doubt for my participation in EDM Day. I posted the famous Westergaard cartoon as my profile picture that day, and participated in the “debate” on the EDMD profile page.

If Dante were alive today, he would have Facebook and Comedy Central executives suffering in the same circle of Hell as Mohammed.

I have to say that some drawings aren’t satirical, but plain crude and below even toilet humor.

But I support them anyway. I guess that the first wave of anger/steam must blow away, before they become more intelligent and actually funny. This is what happens when there’s no free speech. Emotions rule over rationality. When “misunderstanders of the religion of peace” cool down a little, criticism of islam/Mohammad will become more rational and to the point.

(There are some brilliant drawings in there tho).

Their FB profile is down again, btw.

We can go on and on endlessly debating the evils of Islam, then giving you Muslims the privilege of being able to respond on this website.
Bottom line…the battle lines are drawn. The Christian, Jewish, Hindu and other people in this world who know their enemy know what great battles lie before us. That is why the battles are taking place mostly in Muslim lands right now (Iraq, Afghanistan..soon Iran)
Your many acts of terrorism are nothing more than childish acts of desperation of an inferior, low-minded people. Just the mere concept of obtaining 72 virgins in heaven when you die as a martyr is a low-minded, primitive ideal worthy of the lowest form of life.
In the end, after years of struggle, the Muslim religion and those who follow it will ultimately suffer the consequences of their actions against Non-Muslims resulting in their utter and total annihilation.
